ATA 7th Cultural Ecotourism Symposium in Zanzibar an Outstanding Success

H.E. Amani Abeid KarumeMira Berman, ATA Executive Director stated "H.E. Amani Abeid Karume's personal presence at the opening of this historic symposium is an indication of the high level of importance that the Zanzibar Government places on the development of sustainable and cultural tourism." Berman also noted that this is the first time that ATA has held an event in Zanzibar, and commended the strong support of the Minister of Trade, Industry, Marketing and Tourism, Hon. Mohammed Aboud Mohammed.

Mohammed Aboud Mohammed, Zanzibar's Minister of Trade, Industry, Marketing and Tourism extended his government's full support to ensure the success of the ATA event. "The timing of Africa Travel Association's 7th Cultural and Ecotourism Symposium for Zanzibar is excellent," said Hon. Mohammed. "We have just completed a Tourism Master Plan and are in the process of establishing a new brand for Zanzibar. World renowned as an exotic beach and water sports destination, Zanzibar's new focus will be on the archipelago's rich cultural history and festivals; as well as sustainable tourism and environmental development especially in Pemba. Zanzibar will launch its first public/private sector tourism campaign in partnership with the newly formed private sector organization, the Zanzibar Association of Tourism Investors (ZATI)."

Zanzibar Commission of Tourism was represented by Executive Secretary, Mr. Vuai Mohammed.
